|
By shaving metal wires it is possible to obtain Stainless steel wool which possesses several important chemical and physical properties, including: high temperature and acid corrosion resistance, sound absorption and composite reinforcement.
Stainless steel wool is not affected by the pressures and hot gasses found in vehicle exhaust and, unlike glass wool, will not compact and degrades less over time.
APPLICATIONS IN EXHAUST SYSTEMS
Applicated in muffler packing where temperature environment can be over 800°C and it is possible to have exhaust acid corrosion and high vibration.
Also used to retain and insulate absorption filling material in high performance exhaust applications.
The performance of stainless steel wool in automotive mufflers is already long experienced.
Sound attenuation, durability, integrity and resilience property are incomparable to any single alternative material.
Duty temperature tests have shown that stainless steel wool withstand temperatures at cyclic heating of 850°C and continuous at 800°C with alloy type AISI 434; at cyclic heating of 1120°C and continuous at 1050°C with alloy type AISI 446.
We produce stainless steel wool in different alloys:
Series AISI 400 : Aisi 430 - Aisi 434 - Aisi 446
Series AISI 300 : Aisi 304 - Aisi 310 - Aisi 316 - Aisi 330
Size of fibres
Typically used are fibres in the range of 80 - 120 microns. We produce:
. fine grade 60 - 80 microns
. medium grade 80 - 120 microns
. coarse grade 120 - 150 microns
Material is available in rolled strip 550 / 600 mm of diameter and 100mm width. (upon request widths till 400mm)
Material is also available in rolls or formed parts as sleeves, needled matt, die cut pieces, twisted ropes.
